Committed
to getting involved off the field and leveraging his status to make a
difference in the community, Matt Kemp
of the Los Angeles Dodgers continues to take every opportunity to give back to
children in the community. While his
passion has benefited children of all walks, Matt has been especially dedicated
to raising support and awareness for autism which affects his 16-year old
brother Carlton, and more than 1.5 million others in the United States alone.
On March 6, Kemp and co-host Dave Stewart, retired Oakland A’s pitcher, will Ante Up for Autism; a red carpet, celebrity-packed
casino event to be held at the Penske Racing Museum in Phoenix. Joining the co-hosts will be a lineup of current
player’s from all of the Cactus League Teams, and former players to include
Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson and
Silver Slugger David Justice! Other celebrity guests scheduled to attend
include Indy 500 race car driver Danika
Patrick, Eagle’s quarterback Donovan
McNabb and many, many more!
"I
always wanted a little brother that I could play ball with, but my brother Carlton
just isn’t able to do that,” says Kemp. “My family didn’t know about the treatments
available to help him. By teaming up with
TACA and others who care about families like mine, more families can be
connected with the professionals that can help.
Carlton is 16 now and I don’t want another family to feel a void in the
place of a family member who’s present."
